The trust Mid-Troms Museum was established in 2003, and manages museums and heritage sites in the municipalities Balsfjord, Bardu, Dyrøy, Målselv, Senja and Sørreisa. The Museum’s head office, main collections and workshops are located in Målselv municipality. The Mid-Troms region spans about 11.000 square kilometers, and has about 35.000 inhabitants.
The museum seeks to offer children, youth and adults knowledge of cultural and natural history through active participation. We work to maintain end develop tacit knowledge in a variety of crafts, and to convey this knowledge to the younger generations.
The executive board is the trust’s highest decision-making body. The board of representatives consists of at least to members from each municipality in the region, and has as its main duty to elect members for the executive board.
The board consists of three members representing the municipalities, one independent member and one member elected by the museum’s staff. The staff’s representative is also a member of the board of representatives.
