This museum is dedicated to the mysterious halibut and is located in the old Dragøy og Torgersen fish factory in Skrolsvika. This fishing village was ideally situated to reach the rich fishing grounds in Andfjorden. At the turn of the 19th century, the purchase, processing and exporting of halibut and other fish peaked. After the 1920s, there were ups and downs until the fish reception closed its doors for the last time in the early 1990’s. The premises were gradually transformed into a museum. Today, authentic parts of the old fish processing plant and modern exhibitions suitable for a young audience together conveys history, traditions and beliefs connected to “the Holy Fish”.
